- Apple iPhone X
Does the iPhone X have a headphone jack?
Like the iPhone 7 last year, the iPhone X doesn’t have a headphone jack. Instead, the iPhone X headphone jack has been replaced by Apple’s very own EarPods, which use the Lightning connector to connect to your phone. The traditional 3.5mm headphone jack therefore won’t be needed for the iPhone X headphones included in the box that the phone comes in.
If you do want to use traditional headphones with your iPhone X, Apple provides an adapter within the iPhone X box. The adaptor converts the Lightning connector into a 3.5mm headphone jack to plug in other headphones.
How big is the iPhone X?
The iPhone X size is 143.6mm x 70.9mm, and is 7.7mm thick. This makes it 5.65 inches in height, 2.79 inches in width and 0.30 inches in depth.
Looking at other phones released in 2017, the iPhone 8 Plus measures 158.4 mm x 78.1mm, and is 7.5mm thick, while the iPhone 8 is 138.4mm x 67.3mm, and is 7.3mm thick.
Between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X, size comparisons show that the iPhone 8 is 5.2mm smaller in height, 3.6mm smaller in width, and 0.4mm thinner than the iPhone X.
The iPhone X’s screen size is 147.3mm (5.8 inches), and it weighs 174 grams.
Does the iPhone X have a fingerprint scanner?
The iPhone X doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner. Instead of using the Home button and Touch ID, the iPhone X uses Apple’s new Face ID technology for unlocking the phone.
In its radical new design, the traditional iPhone fingerprint scanner technology is one noticeably absent feature of the iPhone X. The new OLED screen of the iPhone X uses touchscreen throughout, without the familiar anchoring point of the Home button.
Comparisons of the two unlock methods has so far found that the Touch ID technology is slightly faster than the new Face ID technology, although it’s possible this will improve as usage increases.
Is the iPhone X water resistant?
Yes, the iPhone X is water resistant and rated IP67 for splash, water and dust resistance under the IEC standard 60529.
The rating is split into two elements, with the first number representing dust resistance and the second number representing water resistance.
With a dust resistance rating of IP6x, the iPhone X is fully protected from contact with harmful dust.
With a water resistance rating of IPx7, the iPhone X water resistance is slightly below. The iPhone X can withstand immersion in water up to one metre (or 3.3 feet) deep for up to 30 minutes.
Resistance can decrease due to normal wear and tear.
